Colonel JOHN W. GEE,
U.S. Army Reserve

Colonel John W. Gee enlisted in the U.S. Army, in 1976.  He attended Basic Training at Fort Leonard Wood, MO and completed Advanced Individual Training (AIT) at Ft. Sam Houston as a 91E Dental Assistant.  His first duty assignment was three years with the 45th Medical Battalion, HHD, 3rd Armored Division in Hanau, Germany.  His next assignment was to US Army Dental Activity (DENTAC), Letterman Army Medical Center, Presidio of San Francisco, CA.
In 1980, COL Gee left active duty and transitioned to the Army Reserves.  He was assigned to the 185th Medical Detachment (Dental Svc), 63rd ARCOM in Los Alamitos, CA, for the next six years, rising to the rank of Staff Sergeant.

In 1986, he was accepted into the University of the Pacific, School of Dentistry, San Francisco, CA and continued his Army Reserve service.  Transferring to the 307th Med Company (Dental Services), in Oakland Army Base, Oakland, CA.  Upon Graduation in 1989, COL Gee obtained a Direct Commission and was promoted to Captain.

COL Gee went back into Active Duty as a Dental Resident in the Advanced Education in General Dentistry Program (AEGDP), U.S. Army DENTAC at Fort Benning, Georgia.  His next assignment was with the 1/506th Infantry Battalion, 2nd Infantry Division at Camp Greaves, Korea, where he was Officer in Charge (OIC) of the dental clinic.  1n 1991, he was assigned to U.S. Army DENTAC, Fort Ord, CA and my end of term of service (ETS) from active duty was, in 1992.

In 1992, COL Gee started a private practice in San Ramon, CA and resumed his reserve service with the 307th Medical Company, 2nd Medical Brigade, Hunter Hall Reserve Center, San Pablo, CA.  Where he served in many various staff positions including Personnel (S-1), Training & Operations (S-3) and Executive Officer (XO), until 1998.

In 1999, COL Gee transferred to the 1984th US Army Hospital, 9th Medical Service Corp (MSC), HI.  In 2004, he was mobilized to Ft. bliss, TX and assigned to William Beaumont Medical Center in support of Operation Noble Eagle.

COL Gee transferred back to the 1984th. U. S. Army Hospital and from 2008-2010, served as Chief of Professional Services. In 2011, he was assigned as Hospital Deputy Commander and is currently serving as such.

As of 17 August, 2015, he is on active duty status stationed at Ft. Hood, Texas for 120 day mobilization.
His Army schooling includes the Army Medical Department (AMEDD) Officer Basic Course, Captain’s Career Course, and the Command and General Staff College.

He holds an A.A degree of Allied Health from Pasadena City College, Pasadena, CA, a Doctorate of Dentistry Degree from the Arthur A. Dugoni School of Dentistry, University of The Pacific, San Francisco, CA and a Masters of General Dentistry, Academy of General Dentistry.
In his civilian life, he has been in private dental practice for 23 years in San Ramon, California. 

COL Gee’s awards and decorations include the Army Commendation Medal (4 OLC), Army Achievement Medal (3 OLC), Good Conduct Medal, Army Reserve Component Achievement Medal (4 OLC), National Defense Service Medal with Bronze Service Star, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Korea Defense Service Medal, Armed Forces Reserve Medal with Gold Hourglass, “M” Device, NCO Professional Development Ribbon, Numeral 2,  Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon, numeral 2,  Army Reserve Components Overseas Training Ribbon, Numeral 2, Army Meritorious Unit Commendation, and Expert Field Medical Badge.
