      Colonel Anita L. Fligge is the Individual Mobilization Augmentee to the Director, Reserve Medical Directorate at Headquarters U. S. Air Force, Washington, D.C. In this position, she assists the Director in matters of medical and aeromedical evacuation policy affecting the Air Force Reserve and reviews medically-related legislation and Air Force Instructions. She also serves on the Air Force Reserve Command Nurse Corps Board of Directors.


      Colonel Fligge began her career by obtaining her direct commission into the Air Force Nurse Corps upon graduation from South Dakota State University in 1990 and was selected to participate in the Nurse Intern Program.  She served on active duty as a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit and Emergency Department nurse and as Assistant Nurse Manager, Post Anesthesia Care Unit. In 1998, Colonel Fligge transitioned directly to the Air Force Reserve, 349th Aeromedical Evacuation Squadron at Travis Air Force Base where she completed initial flight qualification and upgraded to flight instructor in 2000. She held numerous squadron level positions prior to transferring to Air Force Medical Operations Agency, Medical Management Division at Joint Base Lackland-Kelly, Texas as an Individual Mobilization Augmentee in 2010. Colonel Fligge has deployed in support of Operation FREEDOM’S SENTINEL and ENDURING FREEDOM in Afghanistan, and Operation IRAQI FREEDOM in Iraq and Kuwait. Prior to this assignment, Colonel Fligge was the commander, 349th Aeromedical Evacuation Squadron, Travis Air Force Base, Calif.


      Colonel Fligge was born in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. In her civilian capacity, she is obtaining her Doctorate of Nursing Practice in the Nurse Executive Program; is a certified emergency department nurse and currently works as a Clinical Project Manager and Blood Management Coordinator at a community-based hospital in Walnut Creek, Calif.
